She discusses each other's health, and proposes to come to London to shop and see Matthew Smith's exhibition (with Michael Servier) at the Mayor Gallery. She is painting her portrait of Helen Anrep despite Clive's continued presence in the studio making her 'uneasy'; the children make toffee. Also mentions Angus Davidson, Ethel Grant, and John Maynard Keynes and Lydia Lopokova.
